Our Solid Waste Management process is an opportunity to reimagine waste by recycling biosolids and powering our facilities with food waste.
Following our 5-step wastewater treatment process, we convert biosolids to biogas and a fertilizer which are used to fuel our Net-Zero power system.
Universities, cities, and food manufacturers help us in our recycling efforts. As a result, we are able to keep food waste out of landfills and incinerators, helping reduce our community carbon emissions.
The power of waste (literally) has continually inspired our team to find ways to leverage resources to support the future of our environment.
One of the ways in which we work towards our mission is through the intake of commercial and residential food waste for anaerobic digestion. As a result, food waste is converted to fuel to power our Organics-to-Energy capital project. The goal of the project is to produce enough electricity to meet our own needs across the facility, which was accomplished in December 2019.
